Messi sets another record as Barcelona beat Deportivo

After Barcelona held a meeting in the week to talk about the recent struggles, there were a number of changes made to the starting line up for yesterday’s Primera Liga match against bottom club Deportivo. Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets, Alba and Pique were all rested.
There was still plenty of quality in the team and Barca completely dominated possession but could not get the breakthrough goal until near the end of the first half. The good news is that they were creating plenty of chances, and it was Alexis Sanchez that finally finished one off with a good header from a pinpoint Dani Alves cross.
After a less dominant performance in the second half, Deportivo were sensing an upset, so Messi and Iniesta were introduced, followed by Busquets. Barca looked much more incisive after that, and Messi combined with Iniesta and Alves to score for the 17th league game in a row and seal the win.
No other player has achieved this feat in any top divisio0n around the world, just one more amazing statistic in the fantastic football career of the world’s best player. Barcelona fans will hope that he is fired up for the crucial visit of AC Milan on Tuesday.
