The FCB Youth A team played a friendly on Tuesday morning against the
Ghana U20 national side, who are currently preparing for the African Cup
of Nations
Barça B player Agostinho Cá, and Youth B members Munir and Palencia also represented the side coached by Jordi Vinyals
The Youth A side are showing excellent progress as demonstrated today
against the Ghana U20 national team in a game that ended one each.
It was a tight match with chances for both sides, although the
Africans probably had most, especially in the second half when Onana was
particularly outstanding.
The Black Stars took an early 6th minute lead through Francis Warh,
and Barça didn’t manage to find an answer until the 70th minute, when a
Joel Huertas shot deflected in off a Ghanaian defender.
Agostinho Cá, Munir and Palencia as reinforcements
Jordi Vinyals picked a team using mainly his regular first team plus a
few additional recruits. Barça B’s Agostinho Cá, who needs to get match
practice, was played in midfield, while two players from the Youth B
team, Munir and Palencia, played half a match each and looked
competitive.
Vinyals started the match using Tienda, Palencia, Roger, Costa,
Brian, Samper, Ebwelle, Cá, Cristian, Joel and Maxi. In the second half
he also fielded: Onana, Lucas, Babunski, Pol Calvet, Quintillà and
Munir.
Deserved draw
This was always going to be a tough challenge for the Youth B team,
against an international side preparing for a major tournament later
this month. The U20 African Cup of Nations doubles as a qualifying
tournament for the U20 World Cup in Turkey, where Ghana are expected to
be one of the favourites.
